Mai Naito is a Japanese photographic artist born in Osaka, Japan. In 2014, she moved to Brisbane, Australia, to study and immerse herself in a new cultural environment.

Working across photography, installation and textiles, Mai explores the intersections of memory, perception, and the emotional experience of nature. Rather than documenting the visible world, her work seeks to capture how a place is felt, inviting viewers into contemplative spaces where reality and imagination quietly converge.

Drawing upon childhood wonder and lived experience, Mai creates photographic works that encourage slower, more intuitive ways of seeing. Her practice considers photography as a medium capable of materialising memory and communicating emotional and psychological presence.

Mai graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Queensland College of Art and Design in 2023. Since then, she has developed an independent artistic practice through exhibitions, installations, collaborative projects, and arts in health initiatives, creating works that invite audiences to reconnect with the natural world through stillness, reflection, and wonder.
